"What Are My Breast Cancer Surgery Options?"

Lumpectomy

A lumpectomy removes the cancerous area while preserving the breast. Depending on the individual diagnosis and treatment plan, additional treatment such as radiation may be recommended.

Mastectomy

A mastectomy involves removing breast tissue and may be performed using different techniques depending on the individual's diagnosis, anatomy, treatment plan, and preferences.

Your breast surgeon and oncology team will help determine which surgical options are appropriate for you.

"What Is Breast Reconstruction?"

Breast reconstruction is highly personal. Some women choose reconstruction immediately after mastectomy, while others choose delayed reconstruction or decide not to pursue reconstruction.



There are several approaches, including implant-based reconstruction and reconstruction using your own tissue.
