Rosacea Treatments
Rosacea is a medical condition that is poorly understood and affects approximately 13 million Americans. It generally begins as a "blush" or redness on the face that can progress with the development of pimples (papules), red bumps, and/or pustules (red bumps with white pus on their tops) with subsequent development of severe enlargement of the nose; rhinophyma, a late manifestation of rosacea. The redness or "blush" is caused by an increased amount of blood in the superficial blood vessels. This also causes the symptoms of warmth which is a common complaint. Patients with this condition often fail medical treatments despite compliance as well as the avoidance of the most common triggers such as heat, exercise, stress, alcohol, spicy foods, and hot drinks.
The natural history of rosacea may include episodes of cyclical worsening and improvement despite trigger avoidance and medical therapies.
IPL treatments (intense pulse light) is a gentle, noninvasive treatment which is ideal for any patient with no down time and very low risks and/or side effects.
Using state of the art IPL treatments can improve and treat the "blush" by decreasing the blood vessels. This occurs when the energy is absorbed within the vessels causing them to collapse and breakdown, leaving no visible trace on the skin.
IPL is considered to be the most effective, convenient, and comfortable solution to this common and embarrassing condition. IPL is not a cure, and subsequent re-treatments may be necessary depending upon the individual's response and severity of the condition with their continued compliance with trigger avoidance.
IPL Photo Skin Rejuvenation
Intense pulse light photo facial therapy is a noninvasive, nonablative treatment that uses high intensity pulses and visible light to improve the appearance of the skin. It most commonly is used to treat vascular lesions including spider veins, broken veins, port wine staining, and rosacea, but in addition it will treat freckles, age spots, mild acne and facial wrinkles and fine lines. This procedure helps rejuvenate aging skin and is referred to as the photo rejuvenation or the "nonsurgical face lift" in the lay press. This therapy targets the lower layers of the skin (dermis) without affecting the top layers (epidermis) resulting in a more noticeable overall appearance of the skin.
IPL treatment is associated with minimal down time and a patient can have the procedure done and return to work immediately afterwards.
Laser Hair Removal
We utilize the LightSheer diode laser to effectively remove unwanted hair. The light emitted by the LightSheer is absorbed by the pigment located in the hair follicles therefore directly treating the hair. Hair grows in three stages and must be in the anagen phase of growth to effectively be removed and thus multiple treatments will be necessary with an approximate reduction of 10-30% each treatment. The appearance of the treated area will vary from patient to patient depending on the extent of the procedure and skin type. Side effects, if any, are minor. They may include redness and swelling around the hair follicle, which are, in fact desired clinical results and indicate that the follicle has responded to the treatment. We will be happy to tell you more about the treatment, possible side effects and what results you can expect during your consultation.
Customized Skin Treatments
Customized Skin Treatments are clinical skin treatments customized to your specific needs when a peel or microdermabrasion may not be the best option for your skin. These treatments are created and customized by the aesthetician.
